You should brake, which will trigger your brake lights and let the car behind you know you are stopping. You do not need to signal a turn if you are not turning.

By law, you need to start signaling about 100 feet in advance of your turn, but it’s best if you start signaling about a half a block before you plan to switch a lane or make a turn. Vehicles must stop when the bus displays flashing red warning lights and extends the stop signal arm. Vehicles may not pass until the flashing red lights and signals are turned off. • You must ensure the scene is safe; switch off all engines, turn on hazard warning lights and alert oncoming traffic about the accident.
